Miscellanea
Things I need to remember:
• Asking for help is not, as it turns out, fatal.
• Laughing is easier than pulling your hair out, and doesn't have the unfortunate side effect of making you look like a plague victim.
• Even the biggest tasks can be defeated if taken a bit at a time.
• I can write a paper the night before it's due, but the results are not all they could be.
• Be thorough, but focused.
• Trust yourself.
• Honesty, always.

And yes, I even get that if I stood up and said "all black people should be treated with caution because some black people commit crimes" that would be a horribly racist and judgmental thing to say. And I know that in one sense, I suppose saying "all men should be treated with caution because some men rape/abuse/assault" is too.
But for one thing these two issues are on the opposite side of privilege. I think that "all white people should be treated with caution because some white people are racist" is still judgmental, but it's also legitimate, even if it commits the same logical fallacy. And at some point, when you are the group at risk, when you are the group outside privilege, you say "the hell with whether it's a logical fallacy, it keeps me safe." And as a member of the group outside this particular privilege, I think that needs to be legitimized, because it's not my fault that my safety requires me to assume the worst about every male I encounter. *I* didn't make this situation. And I get that a lot of men didn't make it either.....
